I am running xp, today when I turned on pc none of desk top icons would respond, i.e if i have about 20 icons only 2 responded all the rest were totally dead, nothing would open, i can get to control panel but when i click on a particular icon something else would open, or nothing at all. I have few copies of a perfect ghost image which I use when needed, in case of emergency, nasty virus,etc.....just li 7ke a recovery..... I have used these in the past & always worked perfectly after doing ghost image, however now these problems mentioned still not gone even after ghost image/system recovery....tried it couple of times & same problems still exist, i can see that recvoery worked because my desk top goes back to original windows desktop background and al short cuts gone too except those off of recovery disk.......so why is it that programs still not responding, or on some of them something else will start to run...............also system can't be turned-off from start menu i need to press on the power button.
