Hello, I'm am a total newbie when it comes to modifications to x-box. I just ordered a Xecuter 2.3 Lite and a 2.3 Lite external programmer ( whatever that is, it sounded useful so i got it). The md chip say's it comes it's a linux chip, with a Cromwell bios ( i think that's right). I've been reading around guides anf forums on the net, and it seems to me that the cromwell bios is not the way to go. I read that Evox or Evolution x is a good bios to use. But how to get these Bios, or how to put them in my X-Box is beyond me. I found a link on how to put a evolution x in my xbox if I'm using Cromwell bios, but the link to the page did not work. I DO NOT have my mod-chip yet, I'm reasearching on what to do when i get it, so I can I have the best X-box set-up for what i'm using right off the bat with out problems. I DO NOT have a large size HDD installed in my x-box and do not plan to...yet. I will be burning ISo's of my game to put on blank media. This I am unsure of also, I think you have to ftp the image to your pc after you rip to the xbox. But how, and what programs do I use. I am so new at this stuff and am totally lost. So my question in short is, how to a put Evolution X as my Bios, when I reiceve my Xecuter 2.3 lite and Xecuter Lite programmer. Keep in mind I do not have my mod-chip yet, I just ordered it yesterday, so I will be starting from scratch here. I hope someone will help me or point me in the right direction regarding my Questions. Thank you. ----------------------------------------------- Okay, I was reading my receipt and it says the chip i bought is provided with Cromwell Linux Bios 1.8. So, will this bios be suffienct enough to play back-up games and what are the limitations of this bios. Also, since it says the chip comes provided with the Cromwell Linux Bios 1.8 after I install the mod chip, I should just be able to use my Xbox right, I wouldn't have to flash and program a bios to the chip, it should just be ready to go right? OK your chip comes with the cromwell bios, the cromwell bios are basically what let you boot up and flash your chip with the hacked bios of your choice (i reccomend the xecuter 4981 bios) these bios are hacked bios that allow you to play backups and Media with unsigned code. To get the bios on to your CHip you'll have to make a BIOS CD. once you get your chip follow these instruction to make a bios CD. ====================== How to use FlashBIOS ====================== Step 1 - Creating the Bios CD - Get the bios you need from EFNET #xbins (we recommend X2 4981.06). Make it 512k with X2 Bios Manager naming the file BIOS.BIN (case sensitive) - Select a CDRW or DVDR media compatible with your XBox's DVD-Rom. (Most CDRW will work and most DVD-R will work. If you have a Samsung Drive then some CD-R will work) - Burn the BIOS.BIN file onto a CD using NERO - (select the following settings, No Multisession, ISO Level 1, Format Mode 1, ISO 9660, Deselect Joliet, Finalize CD, Disc-At-Once) - You should add a dummy file to the CD (anything between 100MB and 500MB will do) to ensure it is read properly by the XBOX. Step 2 - Flashing with FlashBIOS (Cromwell) - Turn your XBox console ON, when the DVD-Rom tray ejects please insert your BIOS.BIN CD and close the tray. - When the flashing procedure is complete the Xbox will shut down. - If your modchip is write protected or the programming fails you will be informed by error messages on screen (It will say Unknown Flash! Halting)
after you flash the bois you'll need to find the Evox dashboard and install it by making a BOOT disk, but you can also download the Slayers' Evox auto-installer it contains not only evox but also other useful apps.
wow, thanks a ton. Okay just to get this straight. After I install my mod chip then I install X2 4981.06 on my X-box. (having trouble finding that) Then I install the Evox dashboard on my Xbox, slayer's or normal, is one harder to install then the other, and where do i find these. okay, I just need some help finding those things now. after that, I need some help on how to burn games, but lets just stick with the Bios set-up process for know. yeah those are the things you should get, but if you ever have porblems installing the evox dash get the slayer's autoinstaller from that site and use that instead
