Not working

    Recently one of my computers have been unable to reset/ renew the ip address. When I go into the command prompt and type: "ipconfig /release" it says that it couldn't find the file speciefied.And when I type in "ipconfig /renew" it says that no operation can be done while media disconnected. Please help! I am running the command prompt as Admin, but it still won't work.
    I'm using windows vista
