Okay well I have a 720p tv and I was watching fox and realized that it said HD at the bottom I thought I needed a cable box because I was looking to see what HD channels I have because I don't have an HD cable box but my parents do. So any way my tv has a helpful thing when I click display it tells me what the resolution it is in my I know it works because my xbox is set to 720p with the hdmi but it wasn't saying that for the Channel I was watching so I was hoping someone could help me find the right equipment for converting my (I believe) VHF to receive HD broadcasts in 720p without getting an I'd cable box and I want to be able to pay for most of it myself. It is getting to be a real pain going downstairs and watching the difference between my tv and theirs.
your cable provider is the one to see on this.an hd box from them and bobs your uncle.ours is rent to own.costs 9 bucks a month.
You can receive over the air HD signals on your HD set if you have a built in tuner, which it should, with a pair of rabbit ears, if you're located in a city with broadcast TV. All broadcasts are set to be HD only, early in June, here in the States. To receive HD over cable you need a box and usually have to subscribe to a minimum of HD service. Fees and box rental. Read the TV Instructions for how to connect and configure your set for OTA HD signals. It's not rocket science -pretty easy.
