doesnt come with it, and you have to be connected to live to watch an xvid movie. i dont think theres a 'patch' like the old dash where you could manually install it to the HD and not have to be connected to live.
Come talk with us on efnet at #afterdawn !!! or just click ME
ALSO, DO NOT SEND ME MESSAGES ON LIVE REGARDING MODDING CONSOLES, OR HOW I PLAYED A CERTAIN GAME EARLY. I WILL NOT RESPOND. I WILL INSTEAD DELETE YOUR MESSAGE, AND BLOCK ALL COMMUNICATION FROM YOU. JUST SEND ME A PM ON HERE.

You don't have to be connected to watch xvids. You just need the codec addon, don't know if the version jpizzle posted works.
Xbox 360: Arcade model BenQ with iXtreme 1.6
PSP: Slim&Lite 2004 model with 5.50 Gen-D2 with transparent blue housing

yes, just once though to download the codec. Then as long as your signed in on your profile (doesnt have to be connected to live) then you are good to go.

then something must be wrong with my 360 then. because i've downloaded that codec numerous times when watching divx files up at our lake house, and every time i get back home, it says i need some update to watch the divx files again.

My divx/xvids will only play when I am signed on to live as well.... Whenever I am off of live, it says I need the update to play them

Hmm, I'm wondering why it does that on some systems. When it asked me that, I updated it again anyways, and I can watch xvid movies offline.

Come chat with us on efnet at #afterdawn
Please dont message me on Xbox Live about modding! I will not respond to them! Just ask here!

If you delete the codec from your system then create a new free live profile then dl the codec again under the new profile, from there after you can watch movies offline even if you arent signed into your profile. And make sure you don't try using your harddrive on a diffrent xbox cause if you do it will ask to redownload the codec, then after that it wont work on your orig box unless you connect to live.I have to do this many times for buddies who live in the sticks and don't have highspeed.
