    Hey All,

I have been around computers for years and this problem has me stumped. I bought a 16GB SD card a few months ago. It came with its own high speed reader and it was ready to go. It has had nothing but problems since. I have never been able to use the whole 16GB, maybe half like 8GB. The main problem is, I load, say a couple of movies onto it, I plug this card into my other computer and the drive letter doesnt pop up. I then go to my computer, find it, try to open it and it says" The card is not formatted" Not sure how this is, since i just put two movies onto it. This happens on any computer, it also has the tendincy to crash my computer. I am unable to return this, so i am stuck with it. Any ideas would be appreciated

    Thanks,

It depends on the brand of the card. I know from personal expedience that the transcend sd cards can be defective. The problem you describe is very familiar to me. I bought a 4gb sd card that would only read 1gb, sometimes after formatting I could get it to read 4gb but then it would be reading 1gb again a week later. I still use it but not to store valuable files.
Never had any problems with the kingston brand, those are excellent, even there microsd read as advertised.
