hi i have a sony 40 in lcd tv and just recently the screen no longer displays (the screen is black and it shows some blue verticle lines) and does have sound..... what do any of you suggest?

Call a technician.

Could be the logic board, could be the panel.

If you're out of warranty this will be expensive. A new panel is over 90% of the cost of the unit.

I am speaking from direct experience as I had a logic board AND a panel replaced on an XBR4 earlier this year. Thankfully both were replaced under warranty.
