I need to switch from 2GB to 3GB the memory in a system setting.
Actually is to increase de virtual memory in order to run the program.
I have all the instructions but when I look for the boot.ini, the note pad hasn't the information that suppose to have.
    these are the instructions:
    1. Right click My computer. Click properties
2.In the System Properties dialog box, click Avanced tab.
3.On the advanced tab, under Statup and recovery, click Settings.
4.In the Start up and Recovery dialog box, under System startup, click Edit. The Windows boot.ini file will be open in Notepad.
When I open the Notepad file doesn't have the information that I need in order to preceed with the change.
This is de information that should be there maybe with some differences: multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional"/fastdetect.
I should modify that information to switch to 3GB like this:
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional3GB"/3GB/fastdetect.
Does anybody knows how to do it?

I think you can do what you trying to do by going to run->msconfig->boot.ini(tab)-> advanced options button, check maxmem then enter the size. *edit* then reboot

    hope this helps
