Can I convert my Sony DRX-S70U USB DVD drive to a internal one........in place of Matshita DVD RAM UJ 846-S?
Thanks. 1. How can it be converted? 2. It's a hybrid......not actually a laptop, rather a desktop with a laptop type Matshita UJ 856 S, slim slot loading DVD RAM drive. Sony Vaio VGC-LS1. (http://reviews.cnet.com/desktops/sony-vaio-vgc-ls1/4505-3118_7-32028400.html?tag=rnav) Regards!
What's the interface? The native interface for a slimline drive is a xx pin d-sub that carries signal and power. I have an adapter that breaks out the d-sub to standatd PATA signal and 4 pin power. If it's a desktop and not a laptop then the front panel issue is probably moot.
Thanks again...... http://cgi.ebay.com/MATSHITA-Powerb...ategoryZ131541QQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohosting Since am a med doc & no pc geek & new to computers.......once a local tech opened the machine to clean the lens......it's connected by a 40 pin connector.......IDE......I think. Regards!
I don't mind if it does not fit in the exsisting laptop ,since it's a hybrid....desktop with a super slim line slot loading DVD RAM drive. Interface is is IDE....with a 40 pin connector. The Matshita UJ 846S drive is dead & I want to use my Sony DRX-S70U USB as the default optical drive in it's place. My machine's bios doesnt have the option to boot from a USB optical drive. OS is running but if I need to boot for any reason like imaging etc I need a default optical drive not a USB. Any ideas?
