I have a bunch of blu rips that are in an m2ts file structure.

I have read that I need to put them in a ts file and change any hd audio to an AC3 file.

Sounds easy but what is the best process

Use tsmuxer to chnage it from a m2ts to a ts file then convert it with mkvmerge?

I find that part to be a bit confusing and the HD audio conversation not always fool proof

any tips?

Nothing is fool proof..That said, try Tsmuxer to go from m2ts-> .TS file. Then import the .TS file in mkv2vob..The result will/should be a PS3 compatible mpg file..Burn to disc with Imgburn using UDF 2.50 file sys...Or you can stream the .mpg to the PS3..

To cover just the HD audio part. I use megui and tsmuxer as I find it pretty "simple".

Open your m2ts in tsmuxer and if your audio is dts then use the demux option to extract it from the container. (if its dtshd, then make sure to click the check box that says convert dtshd to dts.)

Once you have your file, open megui. On the lower half the page under the input tab, load your dts file in the audo input. Under the encoder settings chose Aften ac-3. (If you click the config box, you can check your settings, channels, bitrate, etc.. mine is set to keep original channels and 448 bitrate.)

Press enque. Click to your queu tab and click start. Wait a couple minutes and you'll have your ac3 file.

Now go back to tsmuxer.. load your m2ts. Then click add again and load your ac3 audio file as well. Uncheck the dts audio and remux the m2ts. When done you should now have an m2ts with ac3 audio.

In the event of TRUEHD, you can simply check the box to downconvert to ac3 in tsmuxer and remux the file.

If you have an external HDD, check these links out. The best way to view BD rips for full blu-ray compatibility... no restrictions or down conversions necessary.
