Tried at the official site, uTorrent freezing Vista 64

I just recently upgraded to Windows Vista 64 Ultimate and I'm having a hell of a problem. After running many tests I've narrowed the problem to uTorrent. It seems that once I start any torrent download (through uTOrrent or not), a minute or so later my entire computer freezes. This of course requires a total reboot. Is this a common problem?

 

I have determined that uploading works fine, but cannot download more then one torrent at a time or my system will crash.

 

Try lowering both Global connection's at option's>preference's>bittorrent to around 200 each. Set your upload rate to about 80%, utorrent does this for you automatically at option's>speed guide>connection type (change's kb to KB for you).

 

Nope, did not work. Computer is still locking up when attempting to download a torrent.

 

Don't know then, know nothing of 64. Are you using a router, if so, disable UPnP at options>preferences>connection? Edit: I see BitDefender caused trouble, also could try disabling DHT: options>preferences>bittorrent (both).

 

have vista 64 bir using bitlord max no of downloads set to 10 never a problem (yet)
