I am trying to reinstall windows xp on my desktop and wipe my hard drive using the windows xp installation disk but I am have a problem. After I hit F12 to go to the setup menu and changed the bios boot to boot from the cd instead of the hard drive, and exit out to let it boot, it tries to boot then just says "To retry boot press F1, to enter setup press f2" As if it's not reading the disc as a boot disc. I know that the disc is good to do this as I've used it on my other computer to reinstall and wipe the hard drive.

I'm trying to renstall windows xp home edition, on a dell dimension 2400. Thanks for the help!

A few things. 1) Make sure when in the BIOS after you set the PC to boot first from the CD drive and then from the Hard Drive that you remember to save these settings before leaving the BIOS. and 2) And if you haven't hit the F2 button yet try it maybe it will bring you to the XP setup and not the BIOS setup.
