a few days ago i started having this weird problem on my laptop screen where it looks like the screen is being torn or split. its probably easier to just show a screen shot.

im pretty sure i dont have a virus or something, because ive done numerous scans and avg hasnt picked up anything really big - besides cookies. im not sure if its because of the monitor or if its because of the video card. please help if you know why this is happening. thank you.

it appears you might have a bad stick of ram or bad slot. if have more then 1 stick of ram then try 1 at a time & in each slot to see if problem continues or not. also try external monitor to confirm it is not the screen the problem.

i tried switching the sticks one by one, back and forth... i didnt see any change at all. ahhhhhhhhh... does this mean that its possible that both sticks are bad or worse that both slots are bad? D:

If the laptop is still under warranty call Dell to have the graphics card replaced. Your description of the problem and screen shot indicates that the GPU is failing.
