I sometimes have problems re-encoding certain movies. I had used rempeg2 exclusively in the beginning, but ran into 2 movies that would reencode to a fuzzy picture. I tried messing around with the settings but after 2 or 3 tries (at about 6 hours a pop) I got very frustrated. I then started using TMPGEnc and after a little playing around was able to make the 2 movies I was playing with work. I read (in some forum or another) that rempeg2 will tend to encode at a lower bitrate towards the end of a movie and that TMPGEnc tends to be more uniform throughout the encode. The problem is that Tmpge sometimes gets glitchy.
I have used settings for tmpge that I find in the guides and it seems no one setting works all the time, Am I destined to have to re-encode things 3 times before success everytime?
I wish that someone would make a comprehensive re-encoding guide to help with every eventuality. I know I ask a lot but I think someone (not me, I am not smart enough) is up to the task!
