Have you left it a while, can take upto a min sometimes, otherwise unplug ev from mains, take out the hd, turn box back on for a min then turn off, unplug again put hd back in and try recording again. Make sure the hd is pushed in all the way.

This is an old thread but here goes

I'm unable to record properly on my PVR EX 5100

I bought a new Samsung HDD 120gb with 8mb cache - PATA/IDE

The disk is recognised and records probably one in every 10 attempts. Timeshift recording is a complete no-no.

So far I have turned off the box and

1. Removed the disk
2. Factory Default clear
3. Turned on box
4. Deep scan
5. Turned off the box
6. Replaced the disk (with plenty of pressure)
7. Turned on the box
8. Pressed record button

I get the message "please wait, recording is starting" (or something similar) and the LED display says REC. After 5-10 seconds the REC changes to the channel number and in the PVR menu the programme has been recorded for 4 seconds. Great!

What next? Any ideas? Wife on my back
