problem with the multmedia audio controler

    hi
    i seem to be having an issue with my mulimedia audio controller.its listed in my devise manager in yellow with a question mark.i recently
    bought a new soundcard.the soundcards ok and installed as listed in my
    devise managerbut ive gotten this prompt asking to install the hardware
    when it already is installed.any ideas?thanks.

    the new sound card is a vista pci c-media 6 channel soundcatd.

    did you disable your original card in the bios if builtin to motherboard? did you load the drivers for new card?

    i just put it into the slots on the mother board.the bios were touched.

    does the pc have onboard sound? if you just put the card in & not load the drivers then that explains the yellow exclamation mark.

    hi
    well i downlonloaded and installed the drivers and i get sound only the
    the "multimedia audio control "is still in yellow.i had to disable it as it still asks for a media disk cd that i dont have...

    the fact you are getting sound but still have exclamation mark means you have 2 soundcards, builtin & slot. the new pci card should have come with a cd, did it?

    thanks but the computer doesnt match the minimun requirements for this soundcard..

    hi

    now an update....i opened up the config though f2 then i disables the
    "sound".this controls the whole soundcard that integrated in my comp-
    ter.this turns off the on board soundcard allowing me to install the
    new card no fuss no muss.thanks.
