What make a console ntsc or pal is it the dvd drive or the motherbord.
I thought it was the motherbord but I put a dvd drive from an ntsc in my pal xbox, flashed it with JF but it won't play pal games. Haven't got any region free games yet so maybe it won't play any games but it will play a dvd.

I believe its the motherboard and not the drive AFAIK. Sounds like you may have flashed with the wrong key, did you used they key from your original drive?

I used the key from the xbox I flashed it with the pal one.

To clarify, you got the key from your old drive (NTSC) and flashed it to the new drive from the PAL xbox?

I took a dvd drive from an ntsc put it in a PAL and flashed it with the dvd key from the pal

I understand. AFAIK that should work. Did you do a read of the firmware after the flash to confirm that you have the right key?
