I recently received this Xbox for free, only thing is doesn't work and I got no information from the previous owner. It has been taken apart, but from the looks of it they touched nothing. When I first turned on the console I received an error code 16. So I formatted the drive and installed the latest dash with HDM. Now for some reason I get an error code 21, and yes I did the HDM install correctly. Any ideas? I can't afford to buy an Xbox and I really want one so.. I'm hoping someone out there will have a solution. Any information would be much appreciated!

    Thanks,

    Spence

I don't know how many times you hot swapped before, or if this is your first mod. Error 21 occurs when the dash files are missing. Try to coldboot a game. If it works, but all the text is in alien characters, then the dash files are missing, or maybe corrupt. If your Xbox cold boots fine with the game, then I strongly believe the dash files you used were corrupt. You said you did it right, and I have no doubt you created all the proper folders 'TDATA, UDATA, etc', and put the dash files in the C folder for the ISO.

The only reason I know about error 21 is because the dash files I used for my ISO were corrupt, incomplete, or just bad. I downloaded a different torrent with the dash, remade an ISO disc, and I rebuilt my HD with the newest dash just fine.

I suggest trying a different set of dash files, burn a new ISO disc, and try the hotswap again. If you still end up with error 21, PM me, and I'll try to send you the ISO I made.
