hey im working on building a new computer... not new but you'll come to understand very soon...

i bought an old dual processor board [ s2895a2nrf ]
im using dual AMD Opteron 2200mhz processors
    [ 8 x 1 gb ] kingston hyper RAM
and a 160 seagate Barracuda IDE harddrive.
[ ive got the same hdd thats SATA as well, but ive got a problem ]

i cant figure out how to load the os. i set the cd drive to boot up, windows starts loading, i get the blue screen, sometimes i make it as far as "press enter to install xp", and other times it freezes at "installing windows"and than thats as far as it will run...and than i must restart my computer.

now if i get to "push enter", i try pushing enter and my computer just restarts.

this is rather annoying and it has been as far as i have been able to go without help. someone wanna get on board with this one ?

i have tried both ide and sata, and im getting the same problems. im wondering if i need to install a third party driver ? can someone look into that?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are all your components known good and working?

If you BSOD on loading the install program your could have anything from BAD RAM to a flaky mobo.

You are now in troubleshooting mode. Strip it down to the simplest config possible and try installing.

Minimal RAM, one CPU, one HDD.

I believe that one or more of your components are suspect and it may be the motherboard.

Sorry, I forgot about that. You will probably need a "spacer" or dummy processor in the empty slot.

In that case, I'd strip the RAM down to the bare minimum and start from there.
