Mmmmmmmmm...... I'm new to all this backing up lark, but I've managed to back up most of my pc games (safedisc and securom etc). I need to know if I can and how I can back up Metal Gear Solid 2. It's dvd-rom and when I try read with blindwrite it says it's too big ( 7.48 GB ?!?!?!) I'm dumping the image now with alcohol 120% but if that works will I have to extract the .bwa and then use twinpeak, and if so how the hell will it fit on a disc? Can I burn onto DVD? (still not enough room?) I once again find myself as lost as I was when I made my first ten 'coasters' Help me please
you can give A-Ray Scanner a go to find out the protection. I haven't read anything on backing up this title tho http://www.aray-software.com/ Try this site for some most excellent BWA files: http://www.portmac.com/ _X_X_X_X_X_[small]Gigabyte 8INXP, Intel P4HT 3.06 Mushkin 1024 MB PC2100 Sapphire 9800 Pro/M-Audio Revolution 7.1 Plextor PX-708A/Plextor Premium/LTD-166S "And we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight." Thanks but that doesn't show me what protection it has either. I looked on the disc and it has SONY DADC written on the inner ring, is this loosely related to securom? I'm pretty sure it is DVD 9 now, and have since tried creating image with DVD Decryptor, but I get a read error at 49% and it won't proceed any further. Anyone help? Am I on the right track?
I've done a bit of research and MGS2 is indeed a dual-layer DVD meaning that unless you have a dual-layer DVD burner it can't be backed up.
Cheers to you Nephilim, stopped me spending another 2 days trying to back the bloody thing up!! Still like to know if I could run it from the virtual drive in Alcohol if I managed to burn the image correctly?
It's well worth a shot. If Alcohol's virtual drive doesn't do the trick you might give Daemon Tools a try When I googled Sony DADC I got hits referring to SecuRom so you may try settings for that when you extract the image. _X_X_X_X_X_[small]Gigabyte 8INXP, Intel P4HT 3.06 Mushkin 1024 MB PC2100 Sapphire 9800 Pro/M-Audio Revolution 7.1 Plextor PX-708A/Plextor Premium/LTD-166S "And we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight."
