ok first thing is my ram i have 4gbs of ram (keep reading its not the same wth is my ram problem) windows vista only sees 2.75, i know my mobo uses .25 for onboard. but where is my other gig, i had a graphics card earlier that was 1gb ddr2 and i thought maybe that was it but no, i sold my card so i dont have it anymore, i uninstalled the drivers so i know that cant be a problem, im thinking it might be my old tv tuner card ( hauppauge win-pvr-150) but i doubt it, i think this ram issue started when i changed my cpu from a pentium d820 to a e5200, onto the cpu-z, the multiplier for my e52 is 12.5 but cpu-z reads 6x multiplier and 1.533 speed (its overclocked to 3.2) unless i stard a cpu intensive task thats when it starts reading, 3.2 x12.5. at first i though it was maybe that each core was at 6x but i remembered my pentium d didnt have the problem. can anybody help with this? also i have tried setting my bios to default, clearing them etc and still nothing, thanks in advance
Hi there. Ok, firstly, I'm not a PC expert here, I'm just gonna tell you what I know. So, the problem with Windows not recognizing your 4GB of RAM- you need a 64bit OS for Windows to fully use your 4GB, simple as that. The thing about your CPU under clocking- Intel has a technology called SpeedStep, this underclocks your CPU when it's full power isn't needed at the moment, thus using less energy, producing less heat and keeping your electricity bills that much lower Hope that helps EDIT: I found this thread while looking for info about a problem with my E5200. In the "Core Speed" tab, CPU-Z shows 1197MHz, no matter what I do. At stock speeds, yours was 2500MHz, correct?
yah right on the dot man, i read in another one of my posts about the speed step thing, sammoris told me, and yah the 64 bit thing was answered in another post as well, but thanks for your help
