Hi everyone. I've recently purchased a projector for home theatre / multimedia presentaion purposes, but I have a slight problem. When I hook up the projector to my dual monitor video card and have it display the same as my monitor, it's all good - except when I play a video. The main RGB out is fine, but whichever device (either projector or monitor) is connected to the DVI out (through a DVI to VGA adapter) the video does not appear. It's just a blank window inside the player, while the other device displays it properly. To clarify the problem, it's only on the DVI port that this is a problem, and it's only the player window that is blank (black). All other stuff displays fine on the DVI port. I have tried on both a Radeon VE 64S and a radeon 7500 64D, both have the same problem. I hope this is not too confusing, and I hope someone can help. Thanks.
Sorry, I must add to this problem. It does not matter which video player I use (divx player, windows media player, or video lan player) the problem still exists. I think that would eliminate the player as being the problem.
Me again. I've dug a little deeper and it seems whichever device I choose as the secondary monitor does not display video inside the video player window. I can flip between the projector and monitor and choose either as the primary monitor and it works fine, but neither will play video as the secondary monitor.
My video card did this as well, but I thought that is was b/c of WMP due to the fact that it shows up on both TV/monitor when I run video with Realone player. I never tried to change the primary monitor to see if the video plays on my TV in WMP, I guess I can do that when I get home.
try changing the dual monitor format.. when doing clone mode, you need to set the project as the primary or main one to clone.... (make sense?).. i've been running dual monitor for a few years now and finally just got a dual-head video card.. that way video works on both monitors... got an Sapphire ATI Radeon 9600 128MB, 8x, vga, dvi and s-video outs.. dual monitor on vga and dvi (using dvi-vga adapter)... as for realone player, that will only play video on the primary monitor, windows media player will play on both primary or secondary (given your video card supports overlays and is dual head in design (i think, meaning two gpus.. like geforce cards with twinview.. or ati in hydravision) also, powerdvd plays on both prim. and sec for me, try using zoomplayer, its made more for dual monitor setups too... peace
using the monitor as an extended desktop is pretty suberb but cant play computer games through tv cause they play on the primary. try a couple of cold boots with the settings saved cause i had the same problem and sorted it out and has not been a problem for months. do you get visual on both monitors when gaming?
