Hello, I have been trying to fix a problem that has been plauging me all day now, and I have never asked for help on a forum before because I usually figure these things out on my own, but it appears as if it is hopeless... I should also mention that I have uninstalled all my codecs multiple times and tried reinstalling... anyways, here is my problem:
I am trying to play 3ivx movies using the ffdshow video decoder, but unless the video is full screen, the image gets all messed up. I do not know the correct term for it, but what happens is, the videos aspect ratio is altered (no use trying to fix this problem by using the "aspect ratio" setting in Zoom Player, it doesn't work) so that it is squished and is displayed on approx. the first 3/4 of the width of my monitor, and then for the other 1/4, it shows the video again. To make that clear, it would be the equivalent of having two TVs playing the same show, side by side, but blocking off the last 3/4 of the width of the second TV.
I know there is an option in ffdshow to edit aspect ratio and crop the video and what not, and I do not think that would work, but assuming it does, I would have to re-edit the settings for every movie that has a different aspect ratio, when I would rather just play the video, period. I would rather not use the 3ivx video decoder because it isn't nearly as configurable and seems to go a lot slower, and it also only works in Windows Media Player, in Zoom Player I just get a black screen (still get audio though) even though it IS using the 3ivx video filter in this case. That is a seperate issue that has also been bugging me, but assuming I can solve my main issue, this secondary issue will no longer be a problem, as I won't be using the 3ivx video decoder anyway.
Any help with this problem would be MUCH appreciated, thanks!
