virtual dub requires vfw.

    Hi can anyone help please ,just tried to use Virtual Dub and i keep getting an error message saying "virtual dub requires a video for windows (VFW)compatable codec to decompress video " what does this mean? do i have to download something if so where from ? thanks .

    Depending on the type of file, VirtualDub may need a codec to open it.
    To keep the number of codecs to a minimum, you might istall the XviD codec or ffdshow.

    After you load a video file into VirtualDub, and if you need to change it by using its filters, the codec can be selected from the 'Video' menu (under Compression)

    An alternative to VirtualDub is 'AviDemux' - its codecs are self contained and the GUI is friendlier than VirtualDub,
