ok i like mod chips but my freind decided to put linux on his xbox using the mechassault trick, but now he's not sure what full linux package to put on, there are a few types of "ed's xebian" are they all compatable with no mod chip? and if so which one do you recomend?

gentoox seams to be a decent version. get it here: gentoox.shallax.com
They provide a bios as well (although, flashing the tsop with a gentoox bios with out a chip means NO MORE XBOX GAMES).
It is a bit unstable with disc intall (I haven't gotten it to work that way) but there is an ftp option. But you'll need a dashboard with an ftp client on the box for that (sorry if you already know all of this).
Check out the website. It'll tell you everything you need to know.

oh yeah. Gentoox doesn't require a modchip either.
