Can someone please explain this problem to me. I previously had a problem transfering files to my xbox. I could connect and explore around but the files would start at like 8k/sec then stop. Not exactly sure what I did, but I ended up fixing it so I could then transfer files at 4000kb/sec. I could do that for about a week. Now I try to connect using FlashFXP again, and I now have the same problem as before. I haven't changed a thing with either my computer or xbox. I have evox as my dashboard. Also, if I switch to another dashboard would all my programs still work or would I have to edit a bunch of files.

JXC...good question. All I can say is that I have had this problem as well. It's weird, because on Mafia it took forever whereas the last two games have taken no time at all. I used to think it was cause my in game reset were on but I turned them all off and it didn't seem to matter. Are you using crossover or regular internet cable?

I have cable internet plugged into my first NIC card. Then the xbox is connected to the second NIC card using a cable crossover. I am looking into installing Avalauch because I have seen a lot of people say they have more success ftping with that dashboard. Thoughts?

Using FlashFXP make sure that PASSIVE mode is not enabled in your settings. Also check the settings in your site manager for your evo-x connection. It can also be enabled there as well. Also if you have a old hard drive that doesn't have high transfer rates it will be slow. Evo-x does not support passive mode. It will slow you way down. My opinion is that evo-x is the fastest dash out there. But certainly not the best looking. Avalaunch claims there burst mode is just as fast, But I have not been able to get ANY other dashboard to duplicate evo-x's transfer rates. Just my personal experiences. Also if you want to see if you get a speed increase try FTPing something from the XBOX hard drive back yo your PC and see what speeds you get. This will give you some idea of what your problem might be. I have a few hard drives in my PC and when I transfer from the old one versus the new one the speed drops dramaticly depending on what drive I use. Hope this helps

I have tried to send files from my xbox to my pc and it is the same thing. Starts out super slow and then just stops. Any idea how to install Avalauch without erasing my evox. Can I run both or atleast have both there and just choose which one to boot up?

Yes you can install avalaunch as you would any other program or game on your hard drive without changing anything. You can run both of them. I put mine in my F:\APPS\Avalaunch\ directory. I have a 300 gig hard drive. Evo-x should auto scan and find it. The latest release of avalaunch had some bugs in it. I use a older version of avalaunch because mine kept locking up. check it out. It's my favorite dashboard.

Matt...forgive me but this interests me as well and I can't find the passive mode. I thought you said it was on Flash FXP but maybe it's on Evox. Anyway, I can't find it on either. I have the demo mode of Flash so maybe it's not on there? Thanks

    To find passive mode option:
    Sites
    Site Manager
Whatever connection you use to connect to xbox (either in the quick link or elsewhere)
Click on the connection and on the right side click on the "options" tab
It is fourth from the bottom.

Update for anyone interested. I installed slayers 2.5, now I can transfer at about 80 kb/sec. A little faster but still not near where I have had it in the past. I also found changing the "upload pack size" sped it up from 40 to 80 kb/sec. Still looking for some help...please

Thanks man. I didn't have passive mode checked and I am still getting just around 1600-1700 which isn't incredibly horrible. Guess if I want it to go faster I must either install another card with a crossover or just use crossover.

Sorry for the late reply.. Egg, you also need to disable passive mode not only in the Site manager, but in the settings as well..It's under preferences/connections. There are two places it can be enabled. Also, Is your hard drive old? Also what duplex is your network card set at? What type of network card do you have? I have a gigabyte ethernet card.. Just curious.. I am getting 11 to 12 meg a second using a RJ45 patch cable..When I use avalaunch I only get 6 to 7 for some reason. The qwix program never tells you anything about tranfer speeds.. Just says calculating or something.. Let me know...

I have heard about those problems using avalaunch even though I don't use it myself. I know the drive is a WD I think and it is about 1 1/2 years old. Came with the Sega GT/Skateboard game? combo. Anyway, not sure what my network card is but it came with my HP computer that I bought in January. Now on the Flash FXP...I went to the area you told me and when I go to options, preferences, I only see:

general, options, sounds, advanced, transfer, proxy/firewall/indent, and display...do you know where passive mode would be? Thanks

It is under preferences/ "proxy / firewall" tab

I am also trying to find all the passive modes and I found another one.
Under Quick Connect (press F8 for short) Then under toggles, there is a passive mode there. I am not sure if it does anything or not but can't hurt to uncheck it.

Did it work for you? What are your transfer rates?

Damit Egg... I thought for sure that would help out a little. I get annoyed when I have to wait for 15 gigs of mp3's to transfer.. I cant imagine what I would do if I had your transfer speeds.. My suggestion would be to get yourself a Harddrive or network diagnostic tool and see what your harddrive and network transfer rates are.. You might just have a old hard drive or something that doesn't transfer very well..

I would love to Eggs transfer rates. Mine vary between 25-80 Kb/sec. I haven't even hit one meg yet. I just don't get it. I have had them high before. but for some reason one day it just decided to slow right down and I haven't been able to fix it.

    JXC-

Just thought of something...did you try reinstalling your Flash FXP? Also, I have had to turn on and off my Xbox numerous times in order to get better transfer rates. Probably not much help but I thought anything might help at this point.

Egg, I have solved my problem for now. Like I said I use 2 NIC cards. So what I did was took the cable plugged into my onboard NIC for the modem and put it into the other PCI NIC card. Then I obviously switched the X over cable from the xbox and put it into the onboard NIC which originally had my internet. Then setup up the network again with those switches and I am getting 3500-5200 kb/sec now. It isn't 9000 kb/sec but it is a lot better than what I had.

Now I will flip if I wake up tomorrow and the setup doesn't work.
