This is the first time I've tried converting an AVI file to a format that I can burn to a DVD, so don't be too harsh.. I'm pretty computer literate though so don't worry about confusing me.

I followed the Avi2dvd guide to the letter. I'm trying to burn Iron Man (an 800mb .avi file), and I need to convert it to DVD format. It only took about an hour and 20 minutes (2.5ghz dual core, 3gigs of ram, 32-bit vista) and for some reason it didn't create a DVD folder (which I assume would contain video_ts and audio_ts folders) even though in the log window it said that one was created. I set the output destination to c:\temp to keep things simple, so I know it's not due to illegal characters in the path..

It created the following files in the Avi2dvd_temp folder:
    AudioStream 1 MP3 2CH.ac3 (largest file @ 3xx MB)
    Avi2Dvd_Log
    Avisynth_Script_File
    BeSplit.txt
    BeSweet_AudioStream 1 MP3 2CH.ac3.txt
    Dvdauthor (xml document)

    Here is the Avi2Dvd_Log

I didn't have any problems installing Avi2dvd, and I made sure to select all the check boxes while installing to make sure I wasn't missing anything.

Anyone have an idea what I might have done wrong? I tried searching the forums first and found one thread made by someone with the same problem, but there was only one reply and it wasn't helpful.

If this is the wrong sub-forum, sorry.. not used to all the dvd burning lingo and this seemed to be the most appropriate one.

    Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure why avi2dvd did that, but an easier (and quicker) program to use is dvd flick, which is also free. I have found avi2dvd to be a very tempermental program, converting some files, and not doing others.

    For payware, I use ConvertXtoDVD.

I figured it out.. the guide recommended that I untick the "create ISO" box, but I tried it again with the box ticked, and it created the correct files =)

I'll use dvd flick in the future though.. thanks for the quick reply!

If you choose HCenc as the encoder in Avi2dvd you will obtain superior results over DVD Flick's rather rudimentary one, especially for longer runtimes.

it took a long time to complete the job but i have no Audio TS or Video TS folders created... the log says it is done and at C:videos\Avi2dvd_temp\DVD
BUT there is no \DVD directory made.. only the following files exist there:

    Dvdauthor.xml
    Avi2Dvd_Log.txt
    BeSplit.txt
    BeSweet_AudioStream 1 MP3 2CH.ac3.txt
    Encoded_Video.m2v

Make sure you leave the box that says "create ISO file" checked.. if you don't, it won't create the DVD folder.
