I own a Genuis Active 5.1 Home Theater AC-3 Surround Sound System which is plugged into my PC via my Creative Soundblaster Audigy Card. When I play my Mp3's from my Hard Drive only my Subwoofer, 2x Front Speakers, 2x Satellite Speakers work. I get no sound from my Center Speaker at all. When I do a sound test through my Soundcard settings it works. When I plug in a external CD Player all speakers work. why doesn't the center work when playing from Hard Drive this includes online PC gaming as well...no Sound from Center? Can anyone help me please with this? Thanks BazNZ
Just a wild guess here, as MP3 is not exactly high resolution & therefore not my field, but the chances are that your sub/satellite system will be using the sub asa crossover, and as MP3 is a stereo format there are no discreet channels, and therefore no centre channel is present. The rears are almost certainly being matrixed to produce the output. Something like a comb filter, or maybe just a phased delay? Definitely not high res, and not surround either.
I wouldve reckoned it was, but it doesnt qite explain the problem with games etc. Im not sure what format they are in - but as Wilkes says, MP3, DD, DTS etc is nothing to do with High-Res Audio. We're talking DVD-A and 24bit 96KHz frequencies +
