sorry if this has been answered, i used search and found nothing of relevance, and couldnt find anything in the guides. my problem is: i have no idea how to decode XVid's. i have the newest ffdshow but in its directory, there is no .exe so im clueless as what to do. thanks in advance
its as simple as downloading the codec and installing it. i like koepi's build (do a google search). if the fourCC of the xvid file is set to divx you can change it to xvid with the fourCC changer given. the fourCC is the thing that will designate which codec to decode it.
if yourve installed ffdshow well thats all there is to it. just open windows media player load ur file into it and you should now have playback of ur xvid file. cheerz
wow, im a dumbass, if thats what decoding means. sorry i didnt explain this earlier. let me restate it: my problem is i have some avi's that are in XVid and when i try to convert them to mpeg(to burn to VCD or SVCD), no converter will let me. im assuming because its in XVid because thats the only conclusion i can come up with. any help appreciated, thx
What you meant to ask was encoding -- slightly different Maybe this can help you: For more info on encoding to (S)VCD with TMPGEnc: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/43085
ok, i tried that guide to convert to svcd and another trying to convert to DVD, but i still get the same error when i select the video file in TMPGEnc it says: File "C:\*****.avi" can not open, or unsupported. what should i do?
did u try all the 3 possible fixes it gave u SykoMchn making sure u have divx codec installed raise DIRECT SHOW MULTIMEDIA FILE READER priority or u could use virtualdub as a frame server
i have the divx codec installed(i checked) but i could not figure out how to "raise the priority" how would i do that? i have also tried the VD option, but was unsucessful. _X_X_X_X_X_[small]S-M[/small]
Well you need the XviD codec for XviD manipulation. _X_X_X_X_X_[small]ASUS A7N8X-X, XP2500+ OC'd to XP3200+ Samsung 1024MB, PC2700 480GB [3x160GB, 7200, 8MB] EVGA, GeForce4 Ti4600 128MB Rules and Policies: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/2487 AFTERDAWN IRC: irc.addictz.net, #ad_buddies COME SAY HI![/small]
