I've been thinking about buying a Xenium modchip. What do you guys think of these chips? Are they a good buy and what were your experience with them (good and bad)?

all chips are the same, get the cheapest one with an off swich.

i am goin to get so many reply's sayin that all mod chips are not the same, and reasons why, so b4 you go on at me, here's why i say it.

1.mod chips do 1 thing, store BIOS data
2.there is no advantage to having big BIOS data, 250k BIOS are good enough(can change HDD etc)
3.the only other thing it needs is an off swich, so you can go on xbox live(all modern chips have this, only first gen ones dont)

i have xecuter 2.3b lite(not the cheapest true, but i did not trust any of the uk sites selling aladins, and the 2.3blite was the cheapest one from http://www.kanection.co.uk )

but the xenium has a handy little built in os, making flashing, bios config, and recovery really easy. Booting with one of the other four banks or the original bios is cake too.
All modchips perform pretty much the same function, but some have better (different) control features or other add-on options.
I've only had a chameleon before my xenium (and the chameleon was a good chip), and I like the xenium a lot better.

Saying all modchips do the same thing is true but all cars basically do the same thing and there's a big difference between driving a 71 pinto and brand new porche.

Since I dont have any experience modding xboxs I want to use a chip that makes it as easy as possible.

Ok. Icarrbutt (is that right?) is right. Almost any chip you choose will be easy to install (especially a solderless type) and easy to flash.
I just like the xenium because pretty much all of the control features are software based, and there's quite a few options. Like the option of flashing the chip from a bios located on the hdd. I was having trouble getting the xenium to read from the disc so I found a bios I'd had on the hdd (from the chameleon previousely installed). Flashed in 2 seconds and I was running.
Plus, it has lcd support. I think some other chips might also support lcd, but the xenium is all I know of for sure.
Well, these are my opinions. I like the xenium. I'll recommend it.
