1st pass and ripping speed

    1. many ppl said that you can skip the 1st pass right away after run the 1st pass for few sec because it doesn't really ripping the movie but creating the log file only. is it true? so that means I can jump to 2nd pass without running the whole 1st pass process?

    2. my computer config is xp1700 pc 2700 512mb. and i select the "performance/quality" to slowest. but then the average speed is 2-4fps. is it normal?

    no. don't listen to that.
    you need to run the first pass in complete. the first pass is for the encoder to run through the video and see where is necessary to compressed and so on. if you stop unfinish the rest will propably end up like a 1 pass cbr.
