    Hello all,

My DVD/cd rw player on my computer is set to Region 2 and can only be changed approx 5 times. My DVD player came with my Dell 4600 computer and shows as HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC 4481B in my hardware profile so this doen't tell me much about the make of it. As I am using this as my source drive and would like to backup any region DVD, can anyone tell me how to get rid of this 5 change limitation so I can read any type of DVD. My DVD burner (pioneer 107) also has the same limitation, but I won't be using this to read discs, just to burn.

    Hope someone can help,
    lavabuild

You could get different firmware for your drive that would make it region free. But there is a chance to ruin the drive if not done correctly.

You could get region free software.
Click the software tab above and go to Video software - DVD Tools.
You will find region free software like ANYDVD, DVD Region-Free or DVD43(For Free).

Hi lavabuild, Welcome to the A/D Forum,

Use this little baby, it makes all your DVD's appear region free - you're looking for DVD43, it's about 1/3 of the way down the page -

    Enjoy,

It's much easier to make the discs region free than the drive.

    Hi guys,

I'm a very very newbie. I've only had a DVD Burner a week or 2. It's a pioneer 107D. I was told about DVD43 and downloaded & installed it and it's now running in my system tray. Thinking that was the end of that, promptly forgot about it. I watched a region 2 dvd the other day and that was ok. Then I tried to watch a region 4 DVD. The player prompted me saying that the player was set to region 2 would I like it set to region 4? I thought DVD43 was surpossed to stop that.

So I guess the question is a) how do I remove the region 2 setting? b) How can I stop the player changing the region when I watch a DVD and c) how can I reset the burner back to the 5 changes?

I'm sure this has been covered before, but I've never been that good at searching for stuff, I never know what to look for.

    Thanks for your help.

    WA Guy.

If you are watching dvd movies on your pc there is a new dvd movie player out called dvd x player pro. This will basicly play all regions without ever locking your drive to one as it is multi regions. If you do not wish to purchase you can get a firmware update from pioneer web site.
