Connecting VAIO Laptop to Receiver

    When I connect my laptop to my receiver, everything shows up on the TV until I try and play a video I downloaded from the internet.

    my bet is htat you need to change your display properties so that your tv is the primary display (most video cards won't play opengl type video on the secondary display.. ) give it a whirl...

    are you using the dual monitor in clone mode or so you have two desktops?

    That was exactly the problem. It has an ATI card so that's the way to solve it with ATI.
