I probably don't have a very good understanding of what video_ts.ifo is supposed to do and what the ifo file for the
main movie (usually vts_01_0.ifo) is supposed
to do. I've got the impression that even if one wants only to copy the main movie, that
video_ts.ifo still has to be present and is sort of the main, top level ifo file. Is that right?

What is the difference in ifoedit between using the "vob extras" button and the "menu extras" button?

It would be nice if the guides gave just a little more information about the relationship between the various ifo files and the vobs and exactly what a vobid is, etc.

I've mostly been able to rip dvd's ok, but I sure wish I knew a little more about what is going on.

It seems to be implied from some of the guides that when one edits some ifo files, that can cause items in vobs to be changed and vice versa.

What is going on when the "get vts sectors" button is hit in ifoedit? Is it supposed to be used after ifo files were edited to update something in the vob files or maybe the other way around?

If a source dvd has sound in dolby digital 5.1 and dolby digital 2 channel and I leave those alone, does that mean that the dvd player will output analog dolby prologic audio out the 2 analog stereo audio outputs and also will still output the dolby digital 5.1 out the dvd player's digital coax output?
IF dts is also on the original dvd and is copied to the dvd-r along with dolby prologic and dolby 5.1, where does the dts come out of the dvd player (actually, in my case, the dvd player is a Hollywood Plus card with dvd station software))-is there supposed to be yet another output jack for it or is there supposed to be some way to choose between dolby 5.1 and dts which I will lose by no longer having dvd menus when I split a dvd to 2 dvd-r's???
