region zero backup proplems

I am trying to backup region zero films. which i gather are not copy protected.
About half of the films i do work and the other half either freeze halfway through or start breaking up.
I have tried using lots of different discs and it makes no difference.
I have even got rid of my cordless mouse (possible interferance).

I am using a pioneer 104 and nero 5.5.9
Can anyone help?
