HELP. Some guy told me today that he hacked into my home system from his. and was browsing througth files containing info on what DVDs I'd Backuped using DVD Decrypter and Nero He said that these files could be accesed through the internet and there was no way I could Stop them I figured someone must know a way to stop this invasion of privacy if you do please help me. P.S. I have KazaA Lite if this has anything to do with it
do you have a firewall? if so did it say any activity had happened? did he know details of particular DVDs u have? its highly unlikely that he has accesed your files, i htink he is just trying to freak u out mate, do u also have anti-virus? Dean

i have an antivirus and after he told me i put up a firewall i think he is just messing with me PS Any info on good firewalls to getwould be helpful and if someone thinks of anything else please let me know thanks
ZoneAlarm Pro..... the one i use and i find it hughly configurable and very easy to use Dean Ps, just google for firewalls or best firewalls and see what YOU like

yeah i've started using that zone alarm free does anyone know of any software like kazaa begone that deletes other p2p related files from the registry?
If you have Microsoft File and Print Sharing enabled and no password set anybody can access your files, unless your ISP blocks ports 137-139 or you have a firewall. He might have been telling you the truth. I used to see many unsecured machines on the cable segment I was on years ago - my Intrusion Detection System would detect Netbios broadcasts coming from the internet and nearly every one was an unsecured machine. I showed a friend on how easy it was for me to log on to his pc (with his permission) and listed his files. He had file and print sharing enabled with no password on his account and not firewalled so anyone on the internet could have done the same thing.
Agnitum Outpost (free) and its big brother, Agnitum Outpost Pro are excellent firewalls. While perhaps not as "giant Crayola coloured buttoned" like Zone Alarm and Zone Alarm Pro they are extremely easy to use and actually offer protection. Also, always check for Window Updates etc. Never be sloppy when you're dealing with computer security. If you're suspicious of something, investigate it and don't leave it sitting there lol From the words of Microsoft "It's good to be paranoid together" or something like that anyway =)
thanks I'm still wondering, this guy said he got info on all the DVDs I had, what theyre serial numbers are etc If he is telling the truth(which i know is not likely) where do think this info would be stored?
Even if he did find out from you specifically -- there's nothing you can do about it now. Get your security act together (i'd format to remove the potential for common trojans and such)
