Grey blocks in output from WinDV capture

Howdy,
I am capturing from my Hi8 cam through a Canopus ADVC-100 with WinDV. The preview during capture looks fine, but when I playback the file, there are grey blocks on most frames- always in the same places. Same happens with DVIO. Capturing with Windows Movie Maker or Scenalyzer doesn't have the problem.
Any ideas?
My PC is pretty decent- AMD Athlon 64 3000+, ECS 755-A2 motherboard, 2 SATA drives set up as RAID-0; Adaptec 4300 FireWire card (w/ TI chip).
