Are most PS2 Games DVD5 or DVD9? Is there a "list" anywhere?

For those who backup their PS2 games, can you tell me apporoximately what percentage are DVD9? What is it that causes the games to be larger in size? Is it just movies, or does the actual game maps cause it?

Also, are most games coming out as DVD9 rather than use 2 or 3 DVD5 discs?

I want to start backing my games up, but don't want to waste my time modding if I won't be able to back some of my titles up (using my single layer dvd burner).
