I just recently got VirtualDub-1_4_10 to break apart those long AVI files for storage purposes. By searching on this forum I learned the procedure for dealing with that pesky VBR to CBR "skew" that seems to be a common problem.

So I was on my way and I was processing the first file when...WHAM! the system crashed...hard...just like somebody pulled the plug out of the wall. Of course the partially processed file was garbage...

So I got the nimo codec pack mentioned here. Installed that. Then I downloaded updates for my operating system, which is XP home. What else? I couldn't think of anything.

I tried again. It still crashes about 5 minutes into the processing.

I searched for but could not find any info on this topic. Not a good sign. Anybody know how to fix this crashing problem??
