Well from what I understand, certain hard drives will not work in an xbox. I have heard that maxtors are mostly good, but still before I go spend a lot of money on a 120gb HDD on ebay, I want to know if it is going to work. Every hard drive i've tried (not many admittedly) has worked in xbox's. The question is wether it is lockable or not. The drive needs to be lockable if you play xbox live.
