You need to cool it with the all caps. Please read the forum rules.

Not enough space on the target drive means exactly that - your hard drive is running out of space or if you're burning to disc the files are too large.

So you are getting this error when you try to begin ripping the disc?

To check how much hard drive space you have left try the following:

My Computer > right click your hard drive (usually C:) > select "Properties" > under the "General" tab the amount of free hard drive space should be listed. How much free space do have?

Do you still have the folders on your hard drive from any previous films that you have burnt? If so delete them as you don't need them anymore, they may be taking up valuable space depending on the size of your hard drive.

Use this guide for how to backup discs using DVDShrink:

    http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/dvd9_to_dvdr_with_dvd_shrink.cfm

If you are creating video_ts and audio_ts folders on your hard drive it is best to create a folder i.e. 'Films' and save them to that destination so that you know where they are for deleting.

If you have used the hard drive for backing films onto and are unsure where they are then use your search function for files or folders called 'video_ts' or 'audio_ts'

I use DVDShrink (free) or X-Copy Express to backup my films and use Nero or DVDDecrypter(free) to burn them. DVDDecrypter can be downloaded from this site and if you look in the 'guides section' you will find how to use it.

Okay, I don't want to be rude, but backing up DVDs really requires a certain amount of basic computer skills that you may need some work on. At the very least, you need to get used to navigating around your hard drive(s) and optical (CD/DVD) drives in Windows Explorer. If you do a search on Google for Windows Tutorials you should find some sites that can help you out.

BTW to delete a file, right click on the file name and select Delete from the menu that pops up.

    Hey Calmdown,

Read the posts..pay attention here...Delete the files after you burn..do not.. I repeat..do not leave them on your hard drive..you are talking major gigabyte space per disc that you copy..right click on the file and hit delete..if it says it is too big for the recycle bin..which it will..click yes to permanately delete the file..we are here to help, but you have to read the posts and follow directions or you will get know where.

    Good Luck,

    Sher

Calmdown, most of us have very large hard disks usually in excess of 120 gigs but even a large disk can be choked by a few large movies taking up space. Once thy're bunred you should as Nephilium pointed out delete them.

    Calmdown,

If you did have 4 successful burns, then it would have left 4 files on you local disk (for most their C drive). Those files will be 4.35GB each, so if you have no need for them just delete them.

so how do i delete some of the stuff in the hard drives, so does that mean when i burn dvds i use drive d instead of c since i have an external burner

The programs I've used that doesn't keep the files are: DVDXCopy, Nero's Recode 2, and DVDCloner2.
