Iran official says Stuxnet claims need investigation

An Iranian official said that the country must investigate claims that the Stuxnet worm could have caused major harm to its first nuclear power station.
Mohammad Ahmadian, head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization, said that reports of damage to the country's Bushehr plant were a malicious campaign by countries hostile to Tehran's nuclear program.

"Many of these discussions raised in the media and world public opinion about the Stuxnet virus are an effort to create concern among the Iranian people and people of the region and delay the work of the nuclear power plant," he said.

"Therefore it is necessary that experts in the field investigate to see how much truth there is in these discussions."

Analysts believe that Stuxnet was a successful attack by the United States and/or Israel on the Iranian nuclear program, which both suspect has a goal of creating nuclear weapons. Iran has given mixed reports on the true impact of Stuxnet on its systems since the story emerged publicly.

Russia's NATO ambassador created headlines recently when he said the virus could potentially lead to a "new Chernobyl". Russia supplied the fuel for the Bushehr plant, and despite the alarming comment on a new Chernobyl-like incident, Ahmadian indicated that there is no significant delay as a result in the start-up of the plant, which will supply electricity to the country's national grid.

I'm Iranian but born here in the U.S. and could care less about your stupid rant. I'm not even upset that you would say something like that, because it just shows how immature you are and Iran is not the real terriorist here like you see from other Middle Eastern countries.

It's like us saying let's bomb South America because it's the closes to North America. Get your facts straight.

Blah blah blah.

This was a necessity and Iran is lucky they're not being carpet bombed into oblivion................which..........would be a better, more permanent solution to that evil plague of a country.

Ughh.........you un-objective do-gooders!!!!!

My mom's close friend from high school is from and now living in Iran. People that say things that are extreme like what attar and I said don't honestly believe that everyone in the country are bad or evil you ninny!

We simply recognize that it's a practical solution to a problematic country and area of our world. It's a solution that serves the greater good. Sure, a bunch of good innocents get caught in the line of fire but with 6.5 billion people on this planet......it's necessary and inevitable.

How is this a solution? So our economy is bad and there are no jobs for people, and there are foreclosures... ah it's ok, we will just bomb them and let's start the population all over.

This isn't Call of Duty: Black Ops and you can't just go after everyone and screw the innocent. Anyways this is getting off the topic and we can go back and forth on this for a long time, so I'm just going to end it now.

Actually, no.........I've always been of the opinion that there were never nucs or WMDs there. I only recognize one thing that you seem to be missing (shame on you as your naivete and head-up-your-assed-ness is giving Aussies a really bad.......and stupid name.) and that is Iran is one of many Middle Eastern countries that plague the world with terrorism and extremist Jihadist Islamic beliefs. If you choose to ignore that simple fact then poor you.

Good thing you're not behind the big red button deciding the fate of us all. No children for you either.

Also......what does Japan have to do with this? In comparison, Japan was a retaliatory measure; a vindication. Ridding us of Iran and much of the Middle East would eradicate terrorism. Australia just doesn't get targeted nearly as much due to geographic location, strict visa rules and culture SO PIPE DOWN!!!!

Of course, I'll stand corrected if you can document instances where Aussie, Brits, Americans, Canadians, French, Germans, Chinese, Japs, Jews, Polish or even Russians have gone abroad to martyr themselves and blow everything up with the sole intent of ending as many lives as possible.

You're a putz. I am grown up but don't blame me........I'm just the messenger here with the GOD given ability to recognize what works and what doesn't. Really, it's a gift.
