I've heard that you can use a q-tip with alcohol to clean the lense, is that true? and is it safe?

hmm.. sounds sort of stupid to me. Why take the risk when cd/dvd lens cleansers can be picked up cheaply. One thing though, are you certain that your lense is dirty I experienced slow load times and lots of loading noise so assumed I should clean the lense but it turned out to be just the inferior early version of ps2 lens.
