Hi, i have read all this information and still can not get my backups to work. After downloading the pre-patched game and extracting the files i opened the .dvd file in Clone CD and burned it at 2X speed. When i attempt to play the game it will not load and gives a message "Mixed Media Disc" at the bottom of the xbox dashboard. Any suggestions?

You can't compress a 8 gig iso down to fit on a 4.7 DVDR.... It wont compress enough no matter what program you use. Its like transferring mp3s to your ipod with floppy disks, it just wont work....

Hi everyone i have a 3.2 ghz pc with 1 ghz ram and a sony dual layer dvd burner, i m trying to burn my copied xbox360 but with no luck although i tried the following media "memorex,verbatim,imation,melody" at 2.4 speed.what is strange is with the same files i went to my friends house and burned them with no problem, he has pioneer dvd burner and 3.2 ghz 2ghz ram.
He told me that the problem is with the RAM!so before upgrading my ram throwing DVD dual layers in the bin could someone help me with that PLLLLEEEEAAASSSEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!

dabblo, I doubt its the RAM. Its more likely to be the DVD RW, I have had an LG which has failed burning on 2 different dvd brands, Pioneer DVD RW's are said to be the best for burning 360 games, and even better in combination with Verbatim DVD's.

Ok i understand this tutorial but i have read maybe two or three tutorials about how to flash and i just do NOT understand it for the life of me. Is there a step by step tutorial for the hitachi drive? I'm assuming all i have to do is FLASH the Xbox 360 and then i can download backups and burn them and play them correct?

I really hope this hasn't been answered (I read the entire thread and couldn't find a solution, so I'm hoping you guys can help)
My 360 firmware has been cracked, and I got the Pioneer DVR-111D burner as people said I should and patched the firmware to 1.23. I have Dual Layer media and I got the .iso files off newsgroups (I tried a few for good measure). I'm pretty sure they're patched files.
I burn them using CloneCD and I get that error that a few people have reported "Please insert this disc into an XBOX 360"...
I have a few backups that someone else made on a Pioneer drive, so I know the drive's okay...but I can't seem to get these isos to work on my system. Anyone have any ideas on what I'm doing wrong? I shouldn't have to merge these files should I?

XBox 360 games have to be backed up onto a DVD-9 disc using a dual layer burner, correct?
What about backing up standard XBox games? Can they be done with a standard DVD burner, not dual layer, and then played on the XBox 360?
Thanks,

Does anyone know how to correctly backup an Xbox 360 video game using the original game disc??? The deal is that I am in college and I brought my Xbox 360 with five games with me. I am only one week into college and one of my games has already gone missing so I sent my console and the four remaining games home with my dad cause I don't want anymore to get stolen but I would really like to keep it with me in college considering that I spent like 450$ on it. So my question is does anyone know how to backup these games using a common blank dvd disc and DVD Shrink? SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!!!

@swindler3
don't mean to be a downer, but it's impossible...you need a x360 drive flashed w/ a hacked fw...you can't use dvdshrink...you have to use DVD9's (DVD+DL) (needed to insert the security sector @ the layer break)

I have an issue. I have damaged my XBOX360 Lord of the Rings Disk <cough>. Therefore I have downloaded, using emule, a Rar file of the net. I then unzipped the file, using WinRAR. There are a number of files staring from dnl_lotm2.001 through to dnl_lotm2.068. There is no dnl_lotm2.000 file. I though it was simply a case of burning the files onto a disk. I burned all the files, using Nero 7 onto a dual disk and then inserted it into my Xtreme Modded XBOX360. Doesn't work. No error, no message nothing ! I thought the game would start automatically. Am I missing something. Can someone explain as an 'idiots guide', bearing in mind we're no all techies, on how to get this working? What steps have I missed.

sorry, not to ask the same question but i still don't see how you can backup an original disc. Do you HAVE TO download a game file off the net or can you simply use a few programs to duplicate and encode the original files from the game and make a backup without downloading the game off the net???
