Hey I just went thru something that I've only read about. lol. I had a drive that was stuck (seemingly) in PIO mode. I uninstalled thru the Device Manager, removed the power and device cables, rebooted in between and still stuck in PIO mode. Oh I'm pissed now. lol.

Well I thought let's try the other IDE connector and there you have it. BACK to DMA mode just like that. Anyone know why? NOT me cause I'm not looking that one up. I spent enough time trying to learn how to get it out of PIO mode. ;)

yes its the IDE controller you want to fix , sooo uninstall the IDE controller in device manager next time(no need to unplug the cables inside the case)then reboot and windows will reinstall them in the correct mode DMA. have you read this guide?

BTW read errors cause drives to get into PIO mode, been ripping scratched/dirty DVDs ? and yeah sometimes it is to simply lol

dont know if this is right place my convertxtodvd is coming up with error code 03 73 03 power calibration fail cd burner dirty have cleaned burner but still the same any body help please

i doubt its the burner thats dirty.could be but i doubt it.most the time it is a dirty DISC, scratched or has finger prints all over it real bad..try cleaning the disc real good and give that a go.

if it is the burner. get a can of "canned air" and shoot it a few times and get one of them laser disc cleaner dvd's the one with a little brush on it that cleans the lens in the drive...

they had the lightscribe of this same drive for $29.99 free S&H.
that is the same exact drive just with Lightscribe. how are the lightscribe drive? do they take from the bruning quality to be able to preform lightscribe?
yes i have the HP740i lightscribe but i havent used it in a blue moon..lol

ive bought some of the new packaged verbs,to be honest i cant tell and dont know if they did anything to the disc themselves.
BUT i have seen a big differenece in the QC scans.i have posted some in the scan thread

the newer one seem to be haveing alot less PIE's and PIF's in the scan thread i also did a couple on the older verbs a big difference in the 2 type disc. the newer verbs i have are the MIT's not MII's i have 3 ink carts left i might go to officemax and get 50 of the MII's for $6..lol just to try them out.
anyone have any of the MII Verbs? how are they?

I would have bought the LS model personally. ;P Saves a couple of greenbacks and besides the f/w for that model is as mature as the "regular" model. :) I'm looking for another SATA drive but NOT finding what I want or the price I'm willing to pay. lol.

As far as the Verbatim media goes I've heard some complaints around the net about the NEWLY packaged stuff. It seems there isn't the "quality" there used to be, but I really haven't noticed. :) Of course I've only burned a few of the NEW discs since I started burning these MCC 003's (Digital MOvie discs). They burn like a dream and will go to 16X if you dare. hehehe. :P

I don't have any of the MII either and my wife said something about NOT buying any more discs until I use up at least 1/2 of my stock. Is she crazy??? That would be about 500-600 discs and I don't have that many movies right now. hahahaha....hehehehe.... ROFLPIMP....

Anyway go get some of those buggers and see what comes of it. ;) btw that's the discs that some are complaining about. :D

You can always find out were the MIT ones (assuming you want those...I haven't seen MIJ in forever!!!) are and make them price match. Most of the retailers will do that with very little hassle. ;)

greensman- Well BestBuy sent my 1st Spindle to my door today ( MIT ) Well Packed and no damage !I also Got my Order of Ink from Supermediastore too so I can print again !!! Yeah me !!! " London Tipton" I ran out Of magenta and if you Run out of any color With My epson (cx-7800 MFP ) it wont print at all Till you replace the empty !!! & I use it till the last drip !!! I even emailed Sony/malaysia About whether it's actually sony making them or Someone else ? The did email me back but were non commital & did'nt really seem to want to answer ? Anyways I've got a lot of sony,s taiyo's verbatims & riteks& ricoh's and few Maxell MIJ's squirreled away in the sQuatch cave so I'm good for awhile !
