.ax opening problem

    Whenever I try to install a codec I get this error

    error opening file for wrighting:

    "C:WindowsSystem32ffdshow.ax"

    I also get the same error messege whenever I try to install any audio/video-xvid/divx codec
    what do I do to resolve this problem?

    i almost had the exact same problem when trying to install xvid codec, and i ended up installing it partially, which ended up not playing my files very well. All i did was enter windows via safe mode, and voila, u can install wutever
