Playback SVCD with ZoomPlayer (or any other)

#1 14 Oct 2002 @ 4:45
For me it seems simply impossible to get a SVCD movie running from a CD with ZoomPlayer. I can playback them with WinDVD, but ZoomPlayer is essential since it gives me the best quality of my TV-Out (Chrontel chip, only 800x600 overscan gives full screen).

ZoomPlayer gives me an error not being able to create filters for the file avseq01.mpg. I underline that I _can_ playback MPEG2 video and I can playback the same SVCD using WinDVD.

The thing is that ZP should be able to playback SVCD. I read about using the RIFF CD/XA filters from the XCD project, but they seem to have no effect at all.

Any suggestions what should I do?

Zoom player uses Direct Show for playback.. you will need an MPEG2 decoder/filter for this purpose, try using Elecard demo found here:

http://www.elecard.com/products/mpeg2decoder.shtml

hope this helps!

this might help also:

http://forum.inmatrix.com/ikonboard/ikonboard.cgi?s=3daaf7e0308fffff;act=ST;f=7;t=197;hl=svcd

found this after I posted the last response, but this is pretty much straight from the manufacturer of Zoom Player, and kinda explains in more detail what I posted previously

Best of luck!

I have tried registering the whole Elecard package, but it had no effect.

give this a try, it worked for me.. open zoom player

Options->manual filters->using filter file->Elecard mpeg2->register

if that don't work, try installing WinDVD 4, that is what I use, and it does not use DirectShow filters, and it plays great. you can even select it using the same options above as a filter for ZoomPlayer..

I have tried Elecarcd to ZP but no luck. I have WinDVD installed and it plays SVCD nicely (and DVD in ZP), but I *need* the zoomin functions in order to fit all of the movie on my TV screen.
