1080p and 720p torrents never 16:9?

    I was just curious as to why whenever I download a 720p or 1080p torrent the aspect ratio is never 16:9? Is that because the movies that they have been ripped from are not 16:9? Because it seems like an awful lot are not 16:9...

    @andy, It is because when they rip the blurays etc, the software only takes the ''picture'' part of the video while discarding the black bars, thats why you always get 1280x544 or whatever....it is technically still true 720p just with no bars
