Boot cd-r with Swap Magic 3

#1 20 Jun 2004 @ 17:28
Like a lot here, i've got a problem booting the swap magic 3.2 CD. All i get is a purple bar (Version 9 PS2)

Then i've heard about DVDloader. My only concern is that i want to boot a CD-R, not a DVD-R. So will DVDloader be able to load a CD-R after it? Don't worry, it's a PS2 CDR backup.

So is this procedure going to work?

- Boot with swap magic DVD
- Swap for DVDloader
- Swap for CDR (Not dvdr)
- Perhaps enjoy the game???

Thanks

would recomend you try this way
1.boot swap magic dvd and swap for dvd loader by flip/slide press x
2.dvd loader now boots press eject and swap for orignal ps2 high toc cd or maybe your swapmagic cd press eject to send back in
3.wait for it to say ps2 cd in lower left of tv then press x
4.when swap by ea method appears swap for ps2 cd backup by flip/slide and press x
5.your backup cd should now boot

this method should work for backups of orignal ps2 cd based games and may work for some dvd rips

This may sound wierd but I had the same problem, all I got was grinding and a purple bar. I tried the hole cd loader thing (i still can't get it to work),but I looked on the net for possible solutions and I found this solution:
two pieces of scotch tape.
you take two 1/2 inch pieces of tape(I cut those in half lengthwise) and placed them on the bottom of the cd. Make sure its in the center as close to the hole as possible. What it was for me was warped disks(ever so slightly) the tape helped balance the cd-r on the spindle and there it was worked like a charm.
