I have a Panasonic DMR-E85H Recorder that's supposed to use TV Guide Listings for programming. I have it hooked up through a TimeWarner Digital (Scientific-Atlanta) Cable Box. I had the DMR hooked up overnight (turned off as stated) with the Cable Box on, but an onscreen message says that it can't find any TV listing data. I've checked that my connections are correct. There doesn't seem to be any progress indicator for getting TV Guide Listings. The Automatic Clock setting doesn't seem to work either.

My question is whether I can receive TV Guide data through the Cable Box or do I need to use a splitter and also hook the DMR to a roof antenna to get TV Guide Listings. I can still program the DMR manually to record, but I hoped to get the TV Guide function working. I would welcome any information about I should do to get TV Guide data. Thanks.

I don't know if I can help or not. I have the same type of dvd recorder and had cox for the cable provider. If you haven't got it set as of yet go back into setup and redo all from the beginning. I had to do it either 2 or 3 times before it finally loaded on my system. Now I have another problem I just recently switched from cable to satlitte and I am not having good luck in setting up the dvd recorder. Hope you get where you want to be soon

Thanks for the info. So far no go. I've had to set all my timers and clock manually. I sent an email to TimeWarner customer service to find out if their digital boxes supported EPG data. I restarted from scratch and tried running it for a couple of days. It got up to around Channel 600 (out of 900 or so). But the problem is that I need to record stuff and can't have that thing flipping through channels for days.

I'll just wait until I get an answer from Cust. Support. So far the manual setup works fine and I'm recording like crazy and sending the shows to my computer for digitization. I'm pretty much getting the results I needed, but I had hoped for full recording capabilities. Maybe I'll get lucky, but don't hold much hope for the Guide capability.

i have same recorder. you can receive the tv guide through the cable box. but if you change the channel of the cable tv box while the unit is off, the guide will not be downloaded correctly. page 11 on instructions. it took me several days to get the full 8 days of listings but its worth it.
